On Sunday, May 4th, 2Sisters Senior Living Advisors will be walking with Team Tobin in the American Parkinson’s Disease Walkathon.
Advocating for Family
This walk is personal for us at 2Sisters Senior Living Advisors. Our father has been living with Parkinson’s Disease for seven years. Witnessing his health decline and his struggle to maintain the quality of life he is used to has been difficult for us, to say the least.
2Sisters has also worked with several clients living with Parkinson’s Disease. We can empathize with their anxieties and understand the effect this disease has on the whole family.
It is likely that people living with Parkinson’s Disease will require at least some care beyond what their families can provide. Because of this, 2Sisters has educated local support groups about how to choose between independent, assisted living and memory care communities as well as home health companies and nursing home options. We have been grateful for the opportunity to share our knowledge and experiences on these topics from our unique personal and professional perspective.
Hope
As a result of money raised for research, many people, including our dad have able to receive the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) procedure. If even just a little, this treatment has been able to improve his symptoms. He is now able to play with his young grandchildren, drive and see friends again.
Having seen our dad’s day to day challenges with Parkinson’s Disease has reinforced for us the benefit of raising money for research in helping to find a cure for this debilitating disease.
